Varvara Evgrafovna Tsiolkovskaya (nee Sokolova) is the daughter of a priest Evgraf Egorovich Sokolov, the wife of Konstantin Tsiolkovsky [1] .

She was born on November 5 (17), 1857 in the city of Likhvin (now Chekalin, Tula Region). Later, the family moved to Borovsk, where Varvara’s father received an appointment to the Borovsk Unified Church of the Intercession [1] .
At the beginning of 1880, Konstantin Tsiolkovsky came to Borovsk, where he received the post of teacher of arithmetic and geometry at the Borovsk district school. Having replaced several apartments, Konstantin, on the advice of city residents, finds himself in the church house where the Sokolovs lived. On August 20 of the same year, Tsiolkovsky and Barbara got married.
They lived together for 55 years, surviving 5 out of 7 of their children and raising a grandson of Vladimir, who remained an orphan after the death of the youngest daughter Tsiolkovsky Anna [1] .

She survived her husband for 5 years, having died on August 20, 1940 at the age of 82, on the day of their wedding in the Roshchinsky church. She was buried at the Pyatnitsky cemetery of Kaluga (the grave was lost) [1] [2] [3] .
