“ Wallander ” ( Swedish Wallander , [valˈlanːdər] ) is a British television series based on a series of novels by Henning Mankel about Commissioner Kurt Wallander . The title role was played by Kenneth Branagh . This is the first adaptation of Wallander in English. Founded by Mankel, Yellow Bird began negotiations with British companies regarding adaptation in 2006. In 2007, Brana met with Mankel to discuss his role. Contracts were signed and work began on a project based on Sidetracked , Firewall, and One Step Behind in January 2008. Emmy director / director Philip Martin has been hired as lead director. Martin collaborated with cameraman Anthony Dod Mantle to develop a visual style for the show.

The first season was produced by Yellow Bird, Left Bank Pictures and TKBC for BBC Scotland [1] [2] , and on BBC One, the series was released in November-December 2008. Filming of the second season took place from July to October 2009 [3] , and it went on the air in January 2010 [4] . The third season was filmed in the summer of 2011 in Ystad , Skane , Sweden and in Riga , Latvia [5] ; the season aired in July 2012 [6] [7] . The fourth and final season was shot from October 2014 to January 2015 [8] . In May 2016, the season came out in the UK on the BBC One [9] .
Critics praised the series that won the Broadcasting Press Guild Award (Kenneth Branagh Award for Best Actor) [10] [10] [11] and six British Academy Television Awards , including an award for the best drama television series [12] [13] [ 14] .
