Biography
He studied at the Neapolitan . He received his first post in Lucca , where he worked with Francesco Veracini , then in 1727 - 1728 , and then from 1760 until his death he worked at the Turin court. He married in 1737 to a certain Bezozzi ( Italian: Besozzi ), who filed for divorce in 1748 due to torture . From 1739 to 1754 he worked in London . He was a student of Giovanni Lorenzo Somisa . He gave concerts in Sicily , the first ever solo cello concert in Paris ( May 31, 1736 ) and in Germany .
Known as one of the greatest cellists of his time. His works are quite complicated for the 18th century : chords , big jumps in height, a complicated bow technique and use as a left thumb bet.

There are six well-known collections of sonatas for cello and basso continuo (Opus II, transcription of Opus I for flute ) and the school for cello Principes de l'application du Violoncelle par tous les Tons , Amsterdam 1779 [1] .
