Babak, Vitaliy Pavlovich

In 1977, he graduated from the Kiev Polytechnic Institute with a degree in electrical engineering, where he subsequently worked as a junior researcher, chief researcher, professor (1994-1995), head of the department of scientific, analytical and environmental instrumentation (1995).

In 1995-1998 - Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine for Higher Education.

In 1998-2007 - rector of the National Aviation University .

Since 2010 - Head of the Department of Diagnostics and Optimization of Energy, Institute of Technical Thermophysics, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

Specialist in the field of technical diagnostics of information-measuring systems for digital signal processing.

He is engaged in theoretical research and scientific and technical development of information and measuring systems for general and special purposes, a number of which have been used in aviation and astronautics, laser-computer modeling and production, means of technical diagnostics of composite materials and products and structures in the formation of the modern structure of air navigation support of Ukraine . The software packages for digital processing of discretized signals created by him together with specialists from the Technical University of Munich were introduced into the educational process of the leading technical universities of Ukraine and Germany.

The author of more than 450 scientific works, including 12 monographs, 40 textbooks, manuals and dictionaries, took part in the creation of 50 inventions for which USSR author certificates and UA patents for inventions were issued.

• 1981-1984 - Secretary of the Komsomol Committee of the KPI and Secretary of the Kiev City Komsomol;
• 1994-2008 - Member of the certification board of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine;
• 2000-2008 - Member of the Board of the State Aviation Service of the Ministry of Transport of Ukraine;
• 2002-2006 - deputy of the Kiev city council of the V convocation;

Since 2004 - Member of the Energy Commission of the Committee on State Prizes of Ukraine in the field of science and technology; Since 2006 - Member of the Bureau of the Department of Physical and Technical Problems of Energy of the NAS of Ukraine; Member of two dissertation councils for the defense of doctoral dissertations, editorial boards of Ukrainian and foreign scientific journals; In 2006-2008 - deputy of the Kiev city council of the VI convocation.
