History
Cathedral Lane - one of the first streets of the city, indicated on the city plan of 1811. For some time it bore the name of Don Descent, since it had a direct exit from the bazaar to the Don River . Then, after the construction of the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary , the lane became Cathedral. During the Civil War, in the Cathedral Lane, 17 was the editors of the weekly Don Wave .
October 25, 1920 was renamed Podbelsky Lane (in honor of the first Commissar of Posts and Telegraph V.N. Podbelsky ). At school No. 15 (Malevich), located in a side street in 26/71, Alexander Solzhenitsyn (memorial plaque) studied from 1927 to 1936. Now here is the Institute of Economics and Foreign Economic Relations of SFedU .
In the 1990s, Lane returned the name Soborny.
In preparation for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, Soborny Lane became a pedestrian. The lane was paved with paving slabs, trees were planted on it and benches were set up. Almost all houses in the alley have been restored or plastered.
A monument to the plumber was erected in 2016 on Soborny Lane closer to the intersection with Bolshaya Sadovaya Street. [1] In June 2016, he was damaged by vandals. [2] [3]
