Ulfat, Gul Pacha

Gul Pacha Ulfat ( Pashto ګل پاچا الفت ; 1909 , p. Aziz-Khan-Katz, Kargay district, Laghman province , Afghanistan - December 19, 1977 , ibid) - an outstanding Afghan Pashtun poet and novelist , editor, state and public figure. He wrote in Pashto .

Biography

He studied in spiritual schools in Kabul and Jalalabad . He received a good knowledge of Arabic language and religion, tafsir , Hadith , naskh and Mansukha , the foundations of Islamic philosophy .

From 1935 he worked in the national newspaper Anis .

Since the late 1940s, he was elected to the National Assembly three times.

In 1947, along with a number of patriots, was among the founders of the Afghan youth political movement ويښ زلميان (Awakened Youth).

In 1951 he founded the Afghan weekly Wolus National Weekly and was its chief editor until the end of 1953.

In 1956–1963 he was president of the Afghan Academy (Pashto Tolin), headed the Society of Afghan-Soviet Friendship (1958–1963). Edited the leading newspapers and magazines in Afghanistan.

As a professor, he lectured on Pashtun language and literature at the University of Kabul in the faculties of literature, law and political science.

In 1963, he was appointed Minister for the Affairs of Nations and Tribes under the President of Afghanistan. In 1964, he resigned from his ministerial post and again took the place of the deputy of the National Assembly in Jalalabad. At the end of his term, resigned.

The last years of his life spent in his native village. He died due to heart failure.

Creativity

Author of many collections of poems and prose essays, as well as several books on religious, ethical, political and social issues, and numerous journalistic articles.

In the work of G. Ulfat traditional and modern plots, motifs, images are intertwined. The writer's favorite technique is philosophical allegory . His works are deeply humanistic, imbued with love for ordinary people.
