Irina Semenovna Shikunova ( March 15, 1940 , D. Kommuna, Lyubansky District , Minsk Region , BSSR ) - Soviet opera singer (lyric soprano ), teacher . Winner of the Inter-Republican Vocal Competition in Minsk (1962), Honored Artist (1972), People's Artist (1980), Academician of the International Academy of Sciences of Eurasia (1998), awarded the Francis Skaryna Medal (2010).

Biography
After graduating from the Dzerzhinsky School No. 2 (1956) of the Minsk Region, Irina was accepted to the Belarusian Conservatory without exams. Having finished it (1964), she began to work in the Belarusian State Opera and Ballet Theater of Belarus , where over time she sang all the major parts of the Belarusian and world operatic repertoire. She did an internship at the Teatro alla Scala (1970-1971). She has been on tour in Finland , Germany , Poland , and sang in many theaters of the former USSR . Since 1989, she taught at the Belarusian Academy of Music, the class of female vocals, associate professor of the singing department.
