An asphalt road leads to the mountain from the city of Senafe , located 135 kilometers south of the capital Asmara . From there, along a complex and dangerous dirt road in the eastern direction, for almost 20 km, a path leads to the mountain.

The temperature in summer at the peak is from 10 to 15 ° C, in winter from −3 to 5 ° C.

Near the mountain are the ruins of the city of Kohaito .

The name of the mountain names the hotel in Asmara and the ship of the Eritrean fleet.
