Was the canoness of the monastery of St. Catherine, maintained a lively relationship with the main representatives of pietism . Being a friend of Goethe 's mother, von Klettenberg in 1769 , during the severe illness of young Goethe, looked after him and had a great influence on him, having come to read mystical and alchemical literature. With the mediation of Goethe, Klettenberg met with Lafater . Her image and life are reflected in the Confessions of a Beautiful Soul in the Goethe 's Wilhelm Meister . Sacred songs and religious articles written by Klettenberg were printed in Hamburg in 1849 (Reliquien des Fräuleins Susanne Katharina von Klettenberg).
