The Girlfriend Experience is an American drama television series anthology created by Lodge Kerrigan and Amy Seimetz. Executive producer was Steven Soderbergh , on the film of the same name based on the series. The premiere of the first season, consisting of 13 episodes, took place at Starz on April 10, 2016; on the same day, all episodes became available online on Starz On Demand [2] .

On August 1, 2016, Starz extended the series for a second season of 14 episodes, which told two new parallel stories; Kerrigan and Amy Seimetz remained show runners. [3] The premiere of the second season took place on November 5, 2017 [4] .

Story
Season One (2016)
Law student Kristin Reid ( Riley Kio ) is an intern at the Kirkland-Allen Law Firm and tries to cope with her work and classes, as well as pay expenses. Her close friend Avery says that she worked in an escort, urges Christine to follow in her footsteps and introduces the girl to a friend of one of her clients, who was also looking for an escort. Christina eventually decides to work as an escort. At first she works for Mrs. Avery - Jacqueline (Alexandra Castillo), but in the end she goes into free swimming. Falling into all kinds of traps on his way, as clients know no boundaries, Christine reveals the shameful secret of "Kirkland Allen."

In June 2014, Starz gave the green light to a thirteen-episode show based on the movie " Call Girl " directed by Stephen Soderbergh , who became the executive producer of the series. Lodge Kerrigan and Amy Seimetz wrote and directed all thirteen episodes, and also served as executive producers [5] . In September 2014, Riley Kio received the main female role [6] . Shane Carrut wrote the music for the show [7] . The shooting took place in Toronto [8] .
Criticism Reviews
The Call Girl series received positive reviews from critics, reaching 81% on the Rotten Tomatoes aggregator site , with an average score of 8.6 based on 31 reviews. The critical consensus of the site reads: “The charmingly dark“ Call Girl ”(which undoubtedly deserves a drunken viewing) smooths out all its flaws with the outstanding acting of Riley Kio” [9] . On Metacritic, the show has 78 points out of 100, which is based on 27 positive reviews from critics [10] .
