Born in a family of musicians, he began to play the violin and harpsichord early, and studied the skill of organ playing with Andre Rezon . Throughout his life, he held the post of organist in various Paris churches, and was the musical director of the Saint-Cyr girls' hostel, for the choir of which many of his cantatas were written - secular, in Greek-Roman mythological subjects.
In addition to the cantatas, which Clerambo wrote more than 30 (collected in 5 collections published in 1710 - 1726 ; the cantata Orpheus was the most successful among his contemporaries), he owns many church chants, sonatas for violin and basso continuo , and collections of pieces for harpsichord and organ.
Together with composer and flute player Jacques-Christophe Nodo, he was a member of the Masonic box Coustos-Villeroy , and was accepted into the box on the recommendation of Nodo.
