He studied his craft at the Imperial Academy of Arts (1813-1824), under the leadership of P. E. Dobrokhotov and K. A. Leberecht ; during the academic course he was awarded three silver medals, and upon its completion, in 1824, he was awarded a small gold medal for the Daedalus and Icarus program composed and carved on stone. After that, he served at the St. Petersburg Mint (from 1843 - the eldest, and from 1848 - the main medalist).
For the carving on steel, the medallions of Count F.P. Tolstoy for subjects from the Patriotic War of 1812-1814 [2] received a diamond ring from Emperor Nicholas I. These works of Klepikov were, on behalf of Metternich , considered in Vienna by the famous Ludwig Pichler , who gave very flattering feedback about them. In September 1843, he was recognized as an academician for these works and “the group he cut out representing Hercules who beat the hydra”.
Of the other works of Klepikov, the most famous are carved on stone portraits of persons of the imperial family, the image of the crown of the Mother of God, cut on topaz , for the panagia of Archimandrite Photius , and the front side of the coin for the opening of the Nikolaev bridge .
