Kira Walckenhorst ( German: Kira Walkenhorst ; born November 18, 1990 in Essen ) is a German beach volleyball player . Won the gold medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro with her partner Laura Ludwig . She also won a bronze medal in 2013 at the European Beach Volleyball Tournament. [2]

Professional career
Rio de Janeiro 2016
Kira Valkenhorst participated in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio with her teammate Laura Ludwig . They won gold medals in the final match against the Brazilian duet Agatha Bednarchuk and Barbara Seychas in two sets with a score of 21-18 and 21-14. Previously, they defeated the Brazilian duo Larissa France and Talita Antunes in the semifinals.
World Tour 2016
Valkenhorst participated in the final world tour in Toronto. They completed the 3rd (last) pool-B with 2 defeats. In the quarterfinal match against Ross and Walsh, they won in three sets (21-18, 19-21, 15-11), reaching the semifinals and opposing the duet Larissa and Talita from Brazil. [3]
After defeating the Brazilian national team in two sets (21-19, 21-19) [4], the pair then also won a victory over the Swiss Zumker and Heydrich, winning gold medals for themselves.
