According to Father Anselm and other ancient authors, he was Marshal of France in 1272. Mentioned in this capacity in the register of the Paris Court of Auditors - that year he conducted a review of the seniors who had gathered in Tours on the orders of King Philip III the Bold .
Secretary Pinar disputes this dating on the basis that Raul d'Estre was a marshal as early as 1282, and Lancelot de Saint-Maar at Pentecost 1278. Since, in France, it is believed that in the 13th century there were only two marshal posts, according to Pinard Ferry de Verneuil could not have become a marshal before 1278, and could not have been after 1283, when Guillaume V du Beck was first mentioned in this post Crespen and Jean II d'Arcourt .
The origin, family ties, and the coat of arms of Ferry de Verneuil are unknown.
