Esther Vorkel ( Dutch: Ester Workel , born March 18, 1975) is a Dutch athlete, a rower, a medalist of the World Cup and the World Championship in rowing, as well as the 2004 Summer Olympics and the 2008 Summer Olympics .

Biography
Esther Vorkel was born on March 18, 1975 in Haaksbergen , Overijssel . She began her career as a professional rower since 1994. Consists and trains at the Willem III RV Club, Amsterdam [1]
The first international competition in which Vorkel participated was the 2001 World Rowing Championships in Lucerne, Switzerland (2001 WORLD ROWING CHAMPIONSHIPS). In the qualification of eights (FB Final), the Dutch team lost 06:20.800 to rivals from Canada (06: 18.980) [2] .
Vorkel earned her first Olympic medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. In the final eights race, the Dutch team lost the lead to rivals from the USA (06: 19.560 - 2nd place) and Romania (06: 17.700 - 1st place) [3] .
At the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, Vorkel represented the Netherlands in the eights discipline. In the final race, her team with a result of 6: 07.22 took second place, losing a gold award to rivals from the USA (6: 05.34) [4] .
