Starogard-Gdansk ( Polish: Starogard Gdański ), Starogard ( kashubsk. Starogarda ), Prussian Stargard ( German: Preußisch Stargard ) is a city in Poland , included in the Pomeranian Voivodeship , Starogard County . It has the status of the urban commune of Starogard Gdanski . The city is located on the River Vežice and belongs to the Starogard Lake District . It covers an area of 25.28 km². The population is 49,191 people (for 2011 ).

Regulation
According to the data as of January 1, 2010, the area of the city is 25.28 km². The city occupies 1.88% of the district. According to 2002, Starogard Gdansky has an area of 25.28 km², including agricultural areas (56% of the territory) and forests (9%). The city is located in the southern part of the Pomeranian Voivodeship and in the north of the Starogard County . The Stargard-Gdanskiy commune in the north is bordered by the Skarszewa commune , in the west - with the Zblevo commune , in the south - with the Commune of Lyubihovo and the Commune of Bobovo , and in the east - with Tczewski district . In the years 1975-1998, the city belonged to the Gdańsk Voivodeship (now the Pomeranian Voivodeship ).
