Biography
Born on November 21, 1905. [1] From 1929 he worked in the tank special department of the Kharkov Tractor Plant (Plant No. 183). Since 1937, the head of the hull group KB-24. In 1939 he designed the hull of the tank A-20.
In October 1941, together with the plant and the design bureau, they were evacuated to Nizhni Tagil to start production of tanks at the Ural plant. Deputy chief designer of the Ural tank plant.
Created a theoretical base of oblique armor: for the first time in world practice, he placed armor plates at acute angles to the most probable projectile flight path. [2] . To a large extent, it is to him that the T-34 tank is obliged to the classic form of its hull .. [3]
After the war - Deputy Chief Designer in the “Department 520” UTZ (Ural Tank Plant) and in the Kharkov KBM. In 1956-1957 on a business trip in China, then returned to his former position in the KMDB.
Stalin Prize in 1946 of the first degree (for the years 1943-1944). - for the development of the design of the new tank and the radical improvement of the existing medium tank [4] .
He was awarded the Order (September 1941).
