Mary Clemmer ( born Mary Clemmer Ames ; May 6, 1839 ? - August 18, 1884 ) is an American writer . She composed herself the name printed in the New York Independant for many years, Letters of Washington written by a woman. She wrote novels: “Irenne” ( 1870 ) and “His two wives” ( 1874 ), a psychological study: “Sketch of men women and things” ( 1873 ) and others.
