Biography
Born and raised in Atlanta . When Christie was 12 years old, her father was killed during an attempt to rob the hotel where he worked (the killer was found only 14 years later) [1] . Athletics began to engage in school, where she showed her talent in hurdling. She set the state record for 100 meters with barriers, attracted the attention of specialists, and then without any problems received a sports scholarship at the Virginia Polytechnic University [2] .
In 2007, she set a junior record for the USA (12.91) and became the winner of the Pan American Junior Championship with a record of competitions (13.02).
After graduating from university in 2010 received a bachelor of science degree in political science and public law [3] .
At the 2012 US Championships, she won with the second season result in the world in the 60m hurdles - 7.84. However, at the winter world championship Christie left after the preliminary races. Because of the echo during the start, she mistakenly thought that there was a false start signal, and therefore she stopped in front of the first barrier [4] .
Twice she became a co-owner of the highest global achievement in the 4 × 100 meter relay race with barriers (in 2013 - 50.78 [5] , in 2015 - 50.50 [6] ).
At the Olympic qualifying tournament in 2016, she took the second place with a personal record of 12.50 and won a ticket to Rio de Janeiro . Castlin devoted her success to the victims of the massacre in 2007 in her native University of Virginia (at that moment she was finishing her first year of study) [7] .
At the 2016 Olympics, she won a bronze medal, losing only to her compatriots Brianna Rollins and Nieh Ali .
He trains under the guidance of renowned specialist Lawrence Boogie Johnson from Clemson University.
