From 1386 he was a professor at the University of Paris , in 1393 his rector. Glorified by eloquence and scholarship, Clementi was appointed secretary of the papal court in Avignon . When Benedict XIII in 1408 betrayed the curse of King Charles VI , Clementi, who was considered the author of the bull , was subjected to general attack. He defended himself from them in a special book, left Avignon and moved to Genoa , wandered for several years in different cities and finally, forgiven by the king, spent his last years in the Navarre College .
Clémenti was one of the harshest and most daring exposers of shortcomings in the church of his time, especially in the book Liber de corrupto ecclesiae statu , published initially without a year or place of printing, and then reprinted several times. His other works: Die diebus festivis , De studio theologico , Fragmentum descriptionis vitae tyrannicae , etc., were published by JM Lyd in Leiden in 1613 (Opera omnia ex manuscriptis etc.).
