Biography
Andrei Grekulov came from the nobility of the Kursk province of Sudzhan County .
The Grekulov joined the service in 1818 as a cadet in the 38th Jaeger Regiment . March 11 (23), 1820 was promoted to first officer rank - ensign. In 1822 he was awarded the rank of second lieutenant, and in the same year he was transferred as ensign to the Kharkov Dragoon Regiment . The following 1823, Grekulov was promoted to lieutenant and transferred to the 42nd Jaeger Regiment . In 1825 he was awarded the rank of headquarters captain.
Grekulov took part in the Russian-Persian (1826-1828) and the next Russian-Turkish (1828-1829) wars. In the Turkish campaign of 1828 he participated in the assault and capture of Kars ( June 20 [ July 2 ] - June 23 [ July 5 ]), where he was wounded by a saber and a bullet in his right leg (shell-shocked). For military distinctions in that assault, Grekulov was awarded the Order of St. Vladimir of the 4th degree with a bow. In the same campaign, he took part in the capture of Akhalkalaki ( July 23 [ August 4 ]), the defeat of the troops of the seraskir Kosa Mehmed Pasha in the battle of Akhaltsikhe ( August 9 [21] ), during which he was shot in the left leg. In 1834, Grekulov was transferred to the Mingrel Jäger Regiment , and in the next 1835 he was promoted to majors. In 1837 he participated in the Tsebeldinsky expedition against the "rebellious" highlanders in the Western Caucasus and the capture of Adler . April 22 (May 4), 1838 Grekulov was awarded the rank of lieutenant colonel. In 1839 he participated in the battle of Ajiahur and the capture of Ahta . In 1840 he participated in a campaign in Aukh and the capture of the main village of Aukhovites (or Plains of Akkin ) - Kishen-Aukh, as well as in battles on the Valerik River and in the Goitinsky Forest. On May 8 (20), 1841, Grekulov was awarded the rank of colonel, and in 1846 he was appointed commander of the Mingrel Jäger Regiment. April 8 (20), 1851 promoted to major general. He continued to serve in the Caucasus. As of 1855, he was the head of the Tiflis garrison, "until he was sent to the Model Infantry Regiment . "
He died in 1856.
