Zozulya, Vera Mikhailovna

Vera Mikhailovna Zozulya (born August 31, 1970 in Guards ) is a Ukrainian athlete (walking). Master of Sports of Ukraine of international class in athletics (1996). Multiple champion of Ukraine, participant of three Olympic Games.

Biography

She graduated from the Faculty of Physical Education of the Ternopil Pedagogical Institute (1992, now Ternopil National Pedagogical University named after Vladimir Gnatyuk ).

She advocated for the Kolos Sports and Fitness Society.

In 2000, she went to the Olympic Games in Sydney , where she took 24th place. At the next Olympics in Athens, she performed worse - only 42nd place. At the third and last Olympics in Beijing, Zozulya improved her result, rising to 16th place.

After the end of her professional career, she began performing in veteran tournaments. In 2013, she won the race walking competition at the V Summer All-Ukrainian Athletic Games in memory of Mikhail Baki in athletics at 5000 m with a result of 24.50.54 min and 3000 m with a result of 14.23.01 min among participants in the age group 40-44 [1 ] . In 2014, she won the silver medal of the European Championships in Athletics among veterans in race walking competitions at a distance of 5000 m, the result was 26: 31.39 ( Izmir , Turkey ) [2] .

Vera Zozulya also advocates the creation of the Association of Sports Veterans in the Ternopil Region [3] .
