He studied at the Bobrinets Agricultural College. After that he graduated with honors from the Belotserkovsky National Agrarian University [1] .
For the first time, he took part in international competitions at the World Cup 2012, fulfilled the standard of a master of sports of international class and received an Olympic license. At the 2012 Olympics in London, he took 18th place.
At the summer Universiade, which was held from July 6 to 17, 2013 in Kazan, Igor represented Ukraine in two disciplines and won a silver medal [2] along with Ruslan Dmitrenko , Ivan Losev and Nazar Kovalenko . In team competitions, Ukrainian athletes showed the second result 4 hours 8 minutes 9 seconds, losing only to the Russians (4:04:31), but significantly ahead of the Canadian team (4: 20.35) [3] [4] .
In individual competitions in race walking for 20 kilometers, the Ukrainian became the sixth with a personal record (1:22:32) [5] .
At the 2013 World Athletics Championships , which was held from August 10 to 18 in Moscow , Glavan set a national record in 50 km race walking, showing a result of 3: 40.39. This time was 5.5 minutes better than the previous indicator and allowed to become the fourth. According to the athlete along the course there were three turning points:
| Somewhere on the 15th kilometer it became difficult for me, although we were not walking fast. Then he got chilled with cold water and it became easier. The second such moment was after the 25th kilometer. My girlfriend urged me, to which he answered her that she was already tired of going. The third turning point is somewhere around the 40th kilometer, where I either slowed down, then increased. Then I lost a lot to the leaders, but I was able to start winning back the lead. I thought that I could not reach the finish line quickly, and psychological support was very helpful [6] . |
At the World Championships in Walking (distance 50 km) in May 2016 won the bronze award [7] . At the 2016 Olympics, Glavan walked 20 and 50 km. In the first discipline, he took 35th place, and in the second, he retired after 35 km [8] .
