Biography
Born in 1951. He began to fight in the club Zieloni Stargard Szceciński , but soon joined the club Grunwald Poznań , where he spent the whole career. In 1972, he became the champion of Poland for the first time and made his debut at the European Championships, taking ninth place, and in 1973 he took fifth place.
In 1974, he won the bronze medal at the European Championship, the first of six bronze medals at the European Championship, and the second in 1975. In the same year was the fifth in the world championship.
At the 1976 Olympic Games he competed in freestyle wrestling in the lightest weight, having won three and lost two meetings, remained in fifth place.

In 1977 he was the first at the German Grand Prix, second at the World Championships and third at the European Championships. In 1978, he was second at the German Grand Prix and again third at the European Championships. In 1979, he won the German Grand Prix and was fourth in the World Championships. In 1980, he won another bronze at the European Championship.
At the 1980 Olympics, he competed in freestyle wrestling in the lightest weight and won the silver medal of the Olympics, losing only to Anatoly Beloglazov .

In 1980 he took the third place in the World Super Championship tournament . In 1981, he won the German Grand Prix, and was fifth in the European Championship. In 1983 he won again at the German Grand Prix and regained his third place in the European Championship. In 1984 he was the seventh in the European Championship.
In 1985, he left his career, but returned to the Olympic Games, winning the Polish Championship.
At the 1988 Olympics, he competed in freestyle wrestling in the lightest weight, having won three and lost two meetings, dropped out of the tournament.

He finally left his career only in 1997, having won at the age of 44 at the national championship of 1995, and at the age of 46 he won a silver medal at the championship of 1997 [4]
He graduated from the automobile technical school, later received the qualification of a coach and after the end of his sports career he worked as a coach. Among his students are the bronze medalist of the 2016 Olympics, Monica Mihalik [5] . He was also the vice-president of the home club of Grunwald Poznań [4]
