Vitaly Semenovich Biront ( January 29, 1937 - May 23, 2011 , Krasnoyarsk ) - Soviet scientist, metalworker and metalworker, doctor of technical sciences (1988), professor, honored worker of the Higher School of the Russian Federation (1999).

He graduated from the Molotov (Perm) Aviation College named. A. D. Shvetsova (1955) and the All-Union Correspondence Polytechnic Institute (1961).

In 1955–1968, he worked at the Sibtyazhmash plant in Krasnoyarsk: a shift foreman at the thermal department of the tool shop, a senior technologist and head of the technology bureau for heat treatment and coatings of the technical department, head of the main metallurgist.

Since 1968, at the scientific and teaching work in the Krasnoyarsk Institute of Nonferrous Metals. MI Kalinina (Institute of Non-Ferrous Metals and Materials Science SFU). Since 1969 the head. Department of "Metallurgy and technology of metals", in 1978-1980. Dean of the Faculty of Technology, in 1980-1984 and 1988-1992. - Vice-Rector of the Institute for Scientific Work. From 1986 he headed the department of “Metal science and heat treatment of metals”. At the department, MiTOM created a new discipline "Metal Science Expertise."

He died on May 23, 2011 in Krasnoyarsk after a serious illness.

In 2012, the Academic Council of the Siberian Federal University made a decision to perpetuate the memory of Professor Biront, giving it the name of the department "Metallurgy and heat treatment of metals."
