History
After the collapse of the aviation industry during the Great Depression in the United States, Cessna experienced serious difficulties. Eldon Cessna, the son of , developed a project of an inexpensive and cheap to operate aircraft, taking into account the new conditions in the economy [1] .
The model Cessna EC-2 was equipped with an Aeronca engine with a power of 30 hp (22 kW? 30 hp) model E-107A. However, the plane did not go into production and the only prototype crashed several years later, when the engine failed during the flight of the trainee with an instructor. As a modification, a version of the single-seater model of the EU-1 was created. But before the serial release the company interrupted its activities until 1934.
