Clayrac, Etienne

Etienne Kleirac ( French Estienne Cleirac ; 1583 - 1657 ) - French lawyer .

He owns an extensive work on international law of the sea: “Des us et coutumes de la mer” ( 1647 ). A huge amount of materials on customary law of the sea, collected by Kleirak, formed the basis of the orders of 1673 and 1681 on trade and the fleet. Kleirac's work: “L'usance du négoce ou commerce de la banque des lettres de change” ( 1659 ) includes valuable material for the history of banking institutions and bill circulation in Europe until the middle of the 17th century . Kleirak left two more compositions: Le droit de Coste and Le royal ambre gris.
