Sergei Vasilyevich Senyukov (January 27, 1955 - September 1, 1992) was a Soviet athlete, European champion in high jumps in 1976, an honorary citizen of the state of Texas .

Biography
Born on January 27, 1955 in Chernivtsi . He graduated from the local secondary school number 20 and the Lviv Institute of Physical Culture . Athletics began to engage in the sixth class, under the leadership of Vladimir Stepanov [1] , who later became an honored coach of the USSR and Ukraine.
On the national arena for the first time he made himself known in 1972 by winning the USSR Schoolchildren's Spartakiad in Kiev . A year later, he celebrated the first success in the international arena - became the silver medalist of the Junior European Championship ( FRG ).
The standard of the master of sports was fulfilled in 1972, the master of sports of international class - in 1974 (2 m 21 cm).
The biggest career success is the victory at the 1976 European Championship in Munich (Germany). In the same year, he set a record for the USSR in the room (2 m 26 cm). At the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal took fifth place. But soon he won the US -USSR match, leaving behind world record holder Dwight Stones . The hosts of the competition were delighted with both his victory and cowboy abilities. There is a story, allegedly on horseback he jumped over the table, at which members of the sports delegations of the two countries sat. In the end, Sergey was made an honorary citizen of the state of Texas. The match of the USA - the USSR as a whole won three times. He also repeatedly won and became a prize-winner at various All-Union and international competitions, including the USSR-Germany match (first place), the Golden Spike international competitions in Ostrava (first place), the World Festival in Cuba (first place).
After the end of his career he was in the military for a while, then worked in Lviv in the police. He died on September 1, 1992.
