Distribution
Representatives of the species are found in Eurasia and North Africa , listed in North America .
It grows in homes, roads, stony, weedy and degraded lands, steppe meadows and shrubbery.
Botanical Description
A biennial plant up to 100 cm high. The stem is simple or branched at the top, slightly weedy. Under the baskets is white-white, without wings and spikes; below with notched-toothed wings and needle-shaped spikes 3-8 mm long.
The leaves are pinnately incised into 2–5-lobed lobes, descending, 6–40 cm long, 1–10 cm wide, glabrous or below the veins with long hairs. The lower leaves are on short petioles , the stem ones are sessile.
Baskets are single, with a diameter of 3-8 cm, drooping. Leaflets wrappers, lanceolate, 4-10 mm wide. Corolla is purple.
