Science Museum ( eng. Scienceworks ) - a museum in Melbourne , which is a subdivision of the museum of the Australian state of Victoria [1] . Located in the suburbs of Melbourne .

Opened on March 28, 1992, it is housed in a purpose-built building not far from the pumping station Spotsvud built in 1897 [2] , whose steam engines form the corresponding exhibit [3] .
The exhibition halls and activities of the museum include visual experiments, demonstrations and tours. The Lightning Room is a 120-seat auditorium where various effects and devices related to electricity are demonstrated, in particular Tesla's giant transformer , capable of generating 2 million volts of electricity and emit 3-meter lightning. The museum building also houses the Melbourne Planetarium .
Until the end of 2013 [4] , the museum also housed a clock tower from Flinders Street Station built in 1883. This clock was moved to the station of in 1905, and in 1911 to the station of , and sold to private ownership after the reconstruction of the station in 1967 [5] .
