History

Sokolow Podlaski

On April 21, 1831, during the Polish uprising of 1830 near Sokolow Podlaski, a skirmish occurred. A squadron of Polish cavalry under the command of Major Suleevsky defeated a Russian detachment, killing 40 soldiers and two officers and capturing 173 soldiers and 100 horses, while losing only 1 killed and 3 wounded. This skirmish had no military significance, only propaganda. [3]

On May 23, 1865, in the eyes of several thousand people, the last commandant of the January rebel rebel Stanislav Bzhuski was executed .
