Features
Features of Google Allo [4] :
Google Assistant
The user can receive answers to questions, look for information and buy something without leaving the conversation with the interlocutor, or using a separate chat. To contact the assistant, just write “@google” and your request in the chat. [5] [6]
The assistant also analyzes all chat messages, offering users related queries, companies and services. An additional services store is built into the chat application [5] .
Smart Answer
The Smart Answer function offers possible answers to the interlocutor’s messages, without requiring the user to type any words. Allo uses Google's machine learning technology to offer a response to the latest user-style message. The function also analyzes images and messages sent to the user to offer answers. [6]
Drawings
The user can draw on the photo or add text to them.
Change font size
The application allows you to easily change (increase or decrease) the font size in the message to be sent, to allow you to express some emotions.
Stickers
Exclusive stickers designed by artists from around the world. The sticker search system is built into the application [5] .
Games
Exclusive games provided by game developers from around the world. The game store is built into the chat application [5] .
Incognito mode
Incognito mode - an additional optional mode, which includes private notifications, temporary chats and end-to-end encryption.
Web
Unlike Google Duo , Allo has a web version
Criticism
Google Allo has been criticized by security experts and privacy advocates for the fact that turned off by default, which they claim leaves the application open to government and corporate oversight. Edward Snowden , an informant and former NSA contractor, criticized the application on his Twitter, stating that “Google’s decision to disable default end-to-end encryption in its new Allo chat application is dangerous and insecure.” [7] Thai Duong , co-lead of the Google product security team, wrote on a personal blog that he would insist on adding a setting that would allow users to have encryption all the time, but he later declined the application. [eight]
Google will save the history of correspondence on its own servers [9] .
Project Closure
At the end of March 2019, the project was closed [10] .
