Georgy Aleksandrovich Bagration-Mukhransky ( Georgian გილექსი ალექსანდრეს ძე ბაგრატიონ-მუხრანელი ; July 16, 1884 - September 29, 1957 ) - Prince from the younger branch of the Georgian royal dynasty Bagration , candidate for the throne of Georgia, head of the Georgian Royal House (1918-1957).

Biography
Prince George was born in St. Petersburg . The only son of the lieutenant general of the Russian army, Prince Alexander Iraklievich Bagration-Mukhransky (1853-1918), and Princess Maria Dmitrievna (nee Golovacheva). He was educated in the Page Corps .
In 1908, Prince George Bagration-Mukhransky married the Polish noblewoman Elena Sigismundovna Zlotnitskaya (1886-1976), whose mother was Princess Mariam Eristavi-Ksanskaya , a distant descendant of the king of Georgia Irakli II [1] , and the grandfather - Chernigov vice governor Dmitry Antonov .
In 1916-1917, George Bagration-Mukhransky was the leader of the noble council in Dusheti (Georgia). After the revolution in Russia in 1917, he welcomed the creation of independent Georgia and fought against the Bolsheviks during the Civil War . George chose to stay in Georgia in 1921 , and his wife and children went to emigrate. In 1930, Prince George Bagration-Mukhransky was arrested by the Soviet authorities, but was soon released thanks to the efforts of the Russian writer Maxim Gorky . George Bagration-Mukhransky left the USSR and reunited with his family in Europe. He eventually settled in Spain in 1944 , where his son Irakli vigorously participated in the political life of the Georgian emigration. One of his daughters, Leonida Georgievna (1914–2010), in 1948 married the Grand Duke Vladimir Kirillovich Romanov (1917–1992), an aspirant to the Russian royal throne . Another daughter, Maria Georgievna (1911-1992), returned to Soviet Georgia, but was arrested in 1948 and spent 8 years in exile in Magadan . She died in Tbilisi in 1992 .
Prince George Bagration-Mukhransky died in Madrid in 1957 at the age of 73. His remains were returned to Georgia by his grandson, Georgy Iraklievich Bagration , in 1995 and buried in the cathedral patriarchal church of Mtskheta [2] .
