Anderson wore 40 number [2] for almost his entire career, including seven seasons with Spurs.

After studying at the University of Georgia, he was selected by the San Antonio Club for the 10th pick of the 1988 NBA Draft. He played for Spurs until the 1994-1995 season , when he was selected by the 1995 Extended Draft by the Toronto Raptors Club. He also played for the New York Knicks and Miami Heat for the following two seasons.

Anderson then moved to Greece to play for Olympiacos , and then for AEK , who reached the 1998 Euroleague final.

The following season, he signed a contract with Maccabi Tel Aviv from Israel , but at the beginning of the season the club management refused the contract. After signing, Anderson said that this would be his last season in professional basketball, and after the contract was canceled, he really left the sport.

Anderson is the older brother of former NBA player Shandon Anderson , and the father of the Lady Moxes basketball club at University of Tennessee Alex Anderson. [3]

Awards

Anderson won a bronze medal at the 1988 Summer Olympics , where he played with future NBA players such as Hersey Hawkins , Stacy Ogmon , Dan Marley , Mitch Richmond , Charles Smith, and future Spurs colleague David Robinson .
