Name Origin
The name Luke appears for the first time in chronicles since 1233. In the document of Boleslaw the Shy , issued to the bishop of Plotsky, the prince freed Kotsk possessions from the jurisdiction of Castelani nostri de Lucow . The name Luke comes from the Slavic root of the bow , which, if we consider the results of onomastic analysis, is of East Slavic origin. In the prehistoric era of the Polish language, onion root meant onion (including arch) and meadow. The name Lukov originally belonged to floodplain territories. The name of the resident of the city is Lukovyan (Lukovyan), and the resident is Lukovian.
