Club career
Born on June 6, 1959 in the city of Milan [2] . Pupil of the youthful team "Elenio Herrera" (Triestina).
In adult football, he made his debut in 1975 with performances for the team "Vigevano" , in which he spent one season, taking part in 6 league games.
In 1976 he moved to “Foggia” [3] , with which he made his debut in Serie A on October 23, 1977 in a match against Torino [4] . For the season 1977/78, he played in 21 matches and scored 6 goals, but the team took the penultimate place and left the elite, after which Maurizio moved to Torino , where he spent the next season, but could not win the competition from star Francesco Graziani and Paolo Pulici [ 5] .
In the summer of 1979, Yorio moved to Ascoli as part of the acquisition of midfielder Danilo Pileggi by the Torino club. Coach Jovan Battista Fabbri used him as the only forward [6] . After a successful start of the season [7] (with four goals in the group stage of the Italian Cup [8] ), Yorio lost his place in the team due to poor performance [9] and conflict with the coach [10] and as a result only played 11 matches during the season in Serie A and scored 1 goal.
In the summer of 1980, Yorio moved to Bari , who played in Serie B, where he became paired with Aldo Serena [11] . In the first season of 1980/81, he scored 10 goals in 29 games, including two goals in a derby against Lecce [11] , despite the injury [2] . The following season, he scored 18 goals in 36 games, becoming the top scorer of the team, but this did not help her to go to Serie A. - “white-red” 2 points behind the “passing” third place [11] .
Despite this, the football player began the next season in the top division. His 31 goal, scored within two years in the championship and Italian Cup [11] , aroused the interest of Roma [12] [13] , who acquired a football player in the summer of 1982. In the 1982/83 season, he won the Scudetto with the "wolves", having spent 25 games for the championship (5 goals) in the role of "assistant" Roberto Pruzzo [14] . The following year, after the acquisition of Francesco Graziani , Yorio was sold to Verona , where he spent his best season in the top division - 14 goals in 25 games [13] , forming a successful attacking duet with Giuseppe Galderisi [15] . As a result, the players finished the season in sixth place and reached the Italian Cup final, in which Yorio with 7 goals became the second scorer.
In the summer of 1984, Yorio returned to Roma, which was forced to buy out a player for more than two and a half billion lira [16] . His second period in Rome was less successful than the first, and Maurizio was in the club as reservist Roberto Pruzzo , who was used by coach Sven-Goran Eriksson as the only striker [17] . Yorio finished the season with only 16 matches and one goal in the championship, in addition to 3 outs and two goals in the Italian Cup, including one in the derby against Lazio [18] .
In 1985, he moved to Fiorentina for four billion lire [19] , where he was also unable to open [20] , having scored only one goal in the championship throughout the season [20] .
Having lost a place at the base next season, in October 1986, Yorio on loan went to Brescia [21] , which he did not save from flying to Serie B. Returning to Florence, Maurizio did not make it into the composition [22] and soon returned to “Brescia” on a full-fledged basis, scored 8 goals next season in 31 matches in the Serie B. At the end of the season, left the club as a free agent, rejecting the offer of “Cosenza” and representatives of the Canadian championship [23] .
In the fall of 1988, he moved to Piacenza [24] , but scoring 5 goals in 20 matches took the last 20th place with the team in Serie B [24] [25] ..
In the summer of 1989, Yorio as a free agent returned to Verona [26] , but the striker did not repeat the performance of the 1983/84 season, scoring only 3 goals in 24 games this time and for the third time in his career takes off with the team from the top division then leaves the "Hellenes".
In November 1990, Yorio signed Internazionale as a substitute for injured David Fontolana [27] , but played for Nerazzurri Yorio in only five games, although he won the UEFA Cup with the team without playing a single match at that season.
In 1991 , he moved to Genoa , for which he played 2 seasons, being the understudy of Tomas Sukhrava and Carlos Aguilera [28] [29] . He completed his professional career as a footballer with performances for the Genoa team in 1993 [30] .
National team performances
In 1979 he was involved in the youth team of Italy [31] . At the youth level, played in one official match.
From 1983 to 1984 he defended the colors of the Italian Olympic team [13] [32] . As part of this team, he played 14 matches, scored 2 goals and participated in a football tournament at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles , where he played in all six matches: with Egypt, USA, Costa Rica, Chile, Brazil and Yugoslavia [33] .
After completing a player’s career
After completing his playing career, he was engaged in construction [29] [34] , but then returned to football as a beach football player [35] [36] [37] and a television commentator [38] [39] .
