History
Krasnostav appeared near the ancient Russian town of Shchekarev. It was the county center in the Kholmsk land of the Russian province . In the 16th century, two Orthodox churches operated here, the Ruthenians made up about a third of the inhabitants (and according to some information, were even the majority).
