Svetogorsk hydroelectric station

Svetogorsk Hydroelectric Power Station (formerly Enso Hydroelectric Power Station, Hydroelectric Power Station-11) is a hydroelectric power station of JSC TGK-1 on the Vuoks River in the Leningrad Region , located in the city of Svetogorsk . It is part of the cascade of Vuoksa hydropower plants - the main source of power supply to the Karelian Isthmus.

The capacity of the Svetogorsk hydroelectric station is 122 MW , the average annual output is 554.6 million kW . Four hydroelectric units with a capacity of 30.5 MW produced by OJSC Power Machines were installed in the hydroelectric building. During the reconstruction of the cascade, new equipment replaced the old units with a capacity of 23.25 MW .

History

The Svetogorsk Hydroelectric Power Station was rebuilt from Enso Hydroelectric Power Station, which was built to supply energy to the local wood pulp mill, sulphate pulp mill, silicate block plant and cardboard production of the EGT concern ( Enso Gutzeit Tornator ). In the 1920s and 1930s, a grand restructuring of the station began - the available capacity was not enough due to the expansion of the city of Enso and the rapid development of industry.

In 1940, as a result of the Soviet-Finnish war, the hydroelectric power station passed to the USSR . The Finnish project for the hydropower plant under construction was revised (in particular, the height of the dam was significantly increased), and the construction was continued. On June 19, 1945, the first turbine of Enso HPP with a capacity of 25 thousand kW was put into operation, and in November 1947 the last of the four hydraulic units was launched.

In 1949 , when construction work was completed, the hydroelectric power station was renamed Svetogorskaya. By order No. 235 of the USSR Ministry of Energy dated August 5, 1949, Svetogorsk and Lesogorsk hydroelectric power plants merged into Lenenergo Cascade No. 1.

Increasing the height of the dam (and, accordingly, the level of the reservoir) led to a decrease in the generation of electricity at the Imatra hydroelectric station in Finland. In 1972, the agreement “On the energy use of the river. Vuoksa between the Imatra and Svetogorskaya HPPs, the issue of compensation of electricity (19.9 million kWh) to the Finnish side was settled in connection with an increase in the elevation of the headwater at the Svetogorskaya HPP. In 2005, the cascade of Vuoksa hydropower plants became part of TGK-1 .

Upgrade

During the large-scale reconstruction of the cascade of Vuoksa hydropower plants in 2009 - 2012 , the existing hydraulic units of the Svetogorsk hydroelectric power station were replaced with new ones, which allowed increasing the capacity of the station.

  • On May 21, 2009, hydraulic unit No. 3 was put into operation [1] .
  • On July 28, 2010, hydraulic unit No. 1 was put into operation.
  • November 29, 2011 launched an updated hydraulic unit number 4.
  • Since December 20, 2012, after replacing the last hydraulic unit No. 2, the capacity of the Svetogorsk hydroelectric power station has increased to 122 MW .
