White Cross ( German Weißkreuz, Weißkreuzkampfstoff ) - marking on German chemical shells that contained mixtures based on tear-acting substances ( lacrimators ), used by Germany in the First World War . The chemical agents used in the “white cross” type projectiles include chloroacetone , bromoacetone , xylyl bromide , benzyl bromide , methyl bromide ethyl ketone .
