Biography

Born in a wealthy family. In 1932 he graduated from the Higher Technical School in Zonguldak . He worked as a mining engineer. In 1934-1935 he trained in Paris and London . Then, he worked as an inspector of "people's houses".

In 1941-1947 he was elected to the Turkish Majlis . Member of the Republican People's Party of Turkey .

He taught literature at Istanbul Robert College. In 1949 he published the magazine Şadırrvan (The Fountain). Since 1961, he held senior positions in the Radio and Television Administration of Turkey (Şiir Dünyamız) and in other institutions.

He was buried in the Zincirlikuyu cemetery .

Creativity

Debuted in 1919. His first poems appeared during the period of the national liberation struggle.

Chaglar is one of the masters of syllabic versification .

Chaglar’s ​​poetry was included in the collection “One Heart Beats Here” (1932), “In Me” (“Benden içeri”, 1966), and others. Peru Behcet Kemal's poems belong to “Shepherd’s Destan”, “Lame Timur”, as well as poems “Shepherd” (Çoban, 1932), Attila (1935), books of travel notes, essays, etc.

Common themes of his poetry are Kemalism and populism . Many poems of the poet are devoted to Ataturk , the revolution for the independence of Turkey , the homeland. A number of works are imbued with a chauvinistic spirit.
