The city is located near Lake Glushinskoe . It has the status of city gmina. It covers an area of 5.75 km². The population is 5,804 people (as of 2004 ).
Previously, a posad (village) of the Neshavsky district of the Warsaw province , which was founded in the 13th century. At the end of the 19th century, 3,000 inhabitants. A customs outpost was located in the village.
