Biography

Born in 1945 in a family with sports traditions: his father and five brothers all engaged in wrestling. Adolf Zeger began training at the age of five. For the first time, he achieved success at the German championship only in 1967, becoming a bronze medalist: the beginning of Zeger's great career was delayed due to numerous injuries. In 1969 and 1970, he became the silver medalist of the German championship, and since 1971, for ten years, became the unchanging champion of the country.

In 1969, he was fifth at the World Championships, and won a bronze medal at the European Championships. In 1970, he was fifth at the World Championships, and sixth at the European Championships.

In 1972 he became the first time European champion.

In 1972, he competed in the welterweight freestyle wrestling competitions at the Olympic Games and managed to win the bronze medal of the Olympic Games.
