Martin C. Strong ( English; Martin C. Strong ; 1960, Masselborough ) is a Scottish musicologist, writer and publicist. Known as the author of several books on popular music, including The Great Rock Discography . Journalists awarded him with comic titles - “compiler of famous giant discographies” and “a person who knows more about rock music than any normal resident of planet Earth” [2] .

Career
Strong began to study music in depth from the beginning of the 1980s, devoting about 70 hours a week to his craft for 25 years [3] .
His most famous work is The Great Rock Discography , which includes seven reprints; The foreword to them was written by British DJ John Peel [4] . The book was widely recognized in the musical environment [5] , the famous American critic Robert Christgau spoke of it as one of the three best encyclopedias of rock music, “crazy volumes” [6] . Feeder Ian Rankin called it one of the “5 books that every man should read,” stating “this is a great book” that “will brighten up your pastime on any uninhabited island” [7] . In 2006, an abridged version of a book called The Essential Rock Discography [8] was released .
Strong is also the author of books: The Great Metal Discography (2 editions), The Great Psychedelic , The Great Alternative & Indie (2 editions) and Lights, Camera, Soundtracks (co-authored with Brandon Griffin) [9] . In 2002, Mercat Press released Strong's book on Scottish music, The Great Scots Musicography [10] [11] . His most recent books were two volumes of The Great Folk Discography , released in 2010 and 2011, respectively; the third part of the series folk discography postponed indefinitely. In addition, Strong is the author and expert of the Great Rock Bible online resource.
In addition, Strong in different years was published in the following publications: The List [12] , Record Collector , Songlines , HMV Choice , Rough Guides [5] . He also served as an expert in Jimmy Cliff's book of Anthology [13] .
Personal life
He lives in Falkirk , has three daughters [14] .
