Biography

Born on November 1, 1928 in Minsk. In 1945 he entered the BSU , which he graduated in 1950. From 1950 to 1957 he worked at the Institute of Biology. From 1957 to 1973 he headed the Laboratory of Biophysics and Isotopes at the Academy of Sciences of the BSSR. In 1973 he headed the Institute of Photobiology, which was created on the basis of the Laboratory of Biophysics and Isotopes and held this position until his death.

He died suddenly on November 30, 1984 in Minsk, almost a month after the celebration of his 56th birthday.

Scientific work

The main scientific works are devoted to biophysics, biochemistry, plant physiology and photobiology. The author of over 117 scientific papers.

  • Discovered the phenomenon of metabolic heterogeneity of chlorophyll.
  • He developed the basic principles of managing the system of active centers of chlorophyll biosynthesis in plants.
  • He established the group nature of the formation of pigment molecules in specific centers of chlorophyll biosynthesis.

  • Corresponding Member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1966-84).
