Cellucci, Paul

Argeo Paul Cellucci ( Argeo Paul Cellucci ; April 24, 1948 , Hudson, Massachusetts - June 8, 2013 , ibid.) - American Republican politician and diplomat. He served as vice governor of Massachusetts from 1993 to 1999 (acting governor from 1997 to 1999), and then governor from 1999 to 2001. US Ambassador to Canada from 2001 to 2005.

Born into an Italian-American family, he received a law degree from Boston College. In 1977, he was elected to the Massachusetts House of Representatives, and in 1985 to the State Senate.

Died of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (Lou Gehrig's disease).
