Biography
Nii Welbeck was born on October 3, 1976 in the Ghanaian city of Sekondi-Takoradi and died on November 12, 2014. [2] His brother Nii Armah Welbeck is also a footballer. [3]
Club career
He began his professional career in 1993 in the club of the championship of Ghana " Okvavu United ". In the 1995/96 season, he played for the Swiss Winterthur in the second division of the country . The following season, he played in the championship of Turkey for Dardanelspor and spent 10 matches, scoring 1 goal. In 2000 he played for the Greek club " Kalithea ". After that, he was a player in the German regional league "North" for " Cloppenburg ", where he played in just 3 games. He completed his career as an Okwawa United player in 2005.
Career in the national team
In 1993, he participated in the junior world championship for a player under 17 years old , which was held in Japan. Ghana reached the final, where she lost to Nigeria (1: 2). Welbeck played in two matches in the tournament.
In August 1996, the head coach of the Olympic team of Ghana, Sam Arday, called Welbeck to the Atlanta Summer Olympics. In the team, he received 3 number. In their group, the Ghanaians took second place, losing to Mexico , beating around South Korea and Italy . In the quarterfinals, Ghana lost to Brazil (2: 4). Welbeck at the tournament spent two games [4] .
He played in the national team of Ghana from 1996 to 1998, having played 4 games with the national team.
