Biography

Ilyo Arizanov was born on May 11, 1960 in the village of Ilovitsa ( Bosilovo community).

He piloted the MiG-29 during the NATO war against Yugoslavia in 1999. On March 24, 1999, Major Arizanov was among the pilots who immediately went into battle with NATO aircraft. That night he was shot down and catapulted, like the other three pilots, but Arizanov was not able to send a message to the headquarters, and he disappeared without a trace. As it turned out, he landed in Drenica , where he broke through the AOK position for almost 48 hours. He got to Pristina airport in very poor condition, where he was given medical assistance. His situation was deplorable: he ate only snow [2] .

In the same 1999, he retires and has since lived in Belgrade . In 2008, a documentary was filmed about Arizanov and his comrades-in-arms called “ Nobody Said“ I Will Not ” ” ( Serb. Niko no reku neuu ) [3]

He died on September 4, 2011 of a heart attack [4] .
