Giacomo “Jack” Galanda ( Italian: Giacomo “Jack” Galanda ; born January 30, 1975) is a former Italian professional basketball player. He played for the forward and center.

Professional career

Galanda was born in the city ​​of Udine , Friuli . He began to play in the youth team of Scaler Basket Verona, in which he made his debut in the Italian League on October 17, 1993. After four years of playing as part of the Scaler Basketball team, Verona switched to the Fortitudo Bologna club. However, in his first season (1997-98) he was in reserve after Gregor Fuchka and had limited influence on the game.

In 1998 he was leased in Varese , where he became the captain of a team that, surprisingly, won the Italian League championship. Then Galanda returned to Bologna, where he remained until 2003, when he transferred to the Siena club for exchange. He won two more Italian league championships in 2000 and 2004. In the 2005–06 season, Galanda played as part of the Olympia Milan club. From 2006 to 2011 he played for Varese . In 2011, he signed a contract with Giorgio Tesi. Galanda made his debut as part of the Italian men 's basketball team in 1997 and soon became one of the most famous players in his country. Among his successes should be noted silver and gold medals at the European Basketball Championship (in 1997 and 1999 , respectively), as well as a silver medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens .
