Dmitry Nikolayevich Yanchuk ( Ukrainian: Dmitro Mikolayovich Yanchuk ; November 14, 1992 , Khmelnitsky ) - Ukrainian canoe rower , has been playing for the Ukrainian team since 2012. Bronze medalist of the Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, bronze medalist of the World Cup, European champion, multiple winner and medalist of regattas of national importance. At the competition, he represents Horishnyi Smavni , a master of sports of international class.

Biography

Dmitry Yanchuk was born on November 14, 1992 in the city of Khmelnitsky , Ukraine . He began to actively engage in rowing at the age of twelve, following the example of his brother, was trained at the Khmelnitsky children and youth sports school, and later moved to the school of higher sports skills and the Girnik sports club. He trained under the guidance of such specialists as Sergey Leontyevich Zhilyaev and Nikolai Ivanovich Matsapura.

He made his debut in the main team of the Ukrainian national team in the 2012 season, managed to win bronze and gold medals at the stages of the World Cup. As a student at the Khmelnitsky National University , he went to represent the country at the 2013 Summer Universiade in Kazan - in the end, he won gold at four meters at fourteen meters and silver at four at five hundred meters. For this outstanding achievement he was awarded the Order of Merit of the III degree [1] .

In 2014, he attended the European Championships in Brandenburg, Germany, from where he brought a bronze dignity award won in the classification of four-seater canoes at a distance of 1000 meters. A year later, at the European Championship in Czech Rachitsa, he went up to the podium three times: he took silver in deuces at five hundred meters, won in deuces at one thousand meters, and became a bronze medalist in four at one thousand meters. In addition, he performed at the World Championships in Milan and added to the track record a bronze award received in the half-kilometer canoe-two race.

Thanks to a series of successful performances, Yanchuk won the right to defend the country's honor at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro . Started here in the standings of double canoes at a kilometer distance with teammate Taras Mishchuk - they qualified from the second place at the preliminary stage, then took first place at the semi-finals stage, after which they finished third in the decisive final race, losing only to crews from Germany and Brazil [2 ] . For this outstanding achievement he was awarded the Order of Merit, II degree [3]
