James Arthur (Jim) Boeheim (born November 17, 1944) is an American basketball coach currently serving as the head coach of Syracuse Orange 's men's basketball team at Syracuse University [1] [2] [ 3] , as well as an assistant coach for the US men's basketball team . During his career, Beheim led the Orange nine times to win the regular championship of the Big East conference , to five championship titles of the tournament of the Big East conference, 28 times led the team to the NCAA tournament and three times to the final of the NCAA tournament. In 1987, Indiana lost in the final of the Orange tournament, in Kentucky in 1996 , and in 2003 they became champions of the tournament.

Behheim also worked as an assistant coach for the US men's basketball team at the 1990 , 2006 and 2010 World Championships , as well as the 2008 , 2012 and 2016 Olympic Games [4] [5] [6] [7] [8] . In addition, Jim was chairman of the men's youth national committee of the US Basketball Federation from 2009 to 2012 and president of the National Association of Basketball Coaches from 2007 to 2008, and later worked there on the board of directors [9] [10] [11] . In September 2005, Beheim was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame . [12] . However, due to violations of the Syracuse basketball program, the NCAA robbed him of 101 championship victories. [13] Jim announced that he would end his coaching career at the end of the 2017/18 season [14] .
In 2001, Behheim was diagnosed with cancer and the trainer and his wife organized the Jim and Julie Behheim Foundation, all of which are used to fight this disease [15] .
